Bellingham Repertory Theatre - Doubles

Bellingham Repertory Dance (BRD) presents Doubles, an evening of contemporary dance.

Doubles is a movement exploration of partnership, reciprocity, and trust. The show features repertory works by choreographers from around the United States and Vancouver BC. BRD is thrilled to share this dynamic material with Bellingham audiences.

In Laura Patterson’s “Agiocochook,” dancers seek collective survival amidst a cold and harrowing landscape. Anna Bauer and Jairus Carr’s fast dash duet is all at once articulate, specific, and quirky. Samuel Hobbs’ “Early” challenges the boundaries of physical connection, and Rob Kitsos describes his work, “Conurbation,” as a reflection of “the multiplicity of confined urban spaces.” Doubles will include the premiere of a new work by BRD’s own Gabby Malagreca, as well as other original material by current company members.

Cost: $15 - $35

Bellingham TheaterWorks Summer Repertory Theatre - What the Constitution Means to Me

The FireHouse Arts & Events Center is excited to host this year’s Bellingham TheatreWorks Fairhaven Summer Repertory Theatre (FSRT) lineup featuring three award-winning works with women as central to each story.

FSRT themes consider the question of what happens when the choice between individual rights and responsibility to humanity becomes too knotty to unravel; Do we simply cut the ties? Or, do we carefully and intentionally untangle and examine the threads? How do we decide whose rights, are right?

What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck, directed by Mark Kuntz

Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this hilarious, hopeful and achingly-human new play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace her profound relationship to the constitution.

  • Pulitzer Prize finalist for drama, 2019

  • Obie Award winner: Best New American Play, 2019

  • 2019 Best American Play, New York Drama Critics Circle, 2019
